Design District 2026: Originals that stole the show

For three inspiring days, Rotterdam’s Van Nelle Factory became the beating heart of the design world. Positioned on our familiar corner, the bold yellow Satelliet Originals stand proved impossible to miss and perfectly reflected a collection designed to do exactly the same: stand out, surprise and leave a lasting impression.

This year’s edition marked the launch of five new Originals by designers Jesse Visser, Erik Remmers, Nathalie Schellekens, Lars Snellaars and Frans Schrofer. Each design brought its own distinctive character, united by a shared purpose: creating hospitality environments with personality, comfort and a distinctive edge.

The collection sparked plenty of reactions from visitors. Words such as ‘cool’, ‘wow’ and ‘unexpected’ were regularly heard on the stand, confirming that the new Originals collection succeeded in surprising and inspiring. And rightly so. These are not pieces that quietly blend into the background. They are Originals designed to add character, spark conversation and give interiors that all-important edge.

Among the standout pieces were Nathalie Schellekens’ playful Ami, Jesse Visser’s ever-popular Nia, Lars Snellaars’ flamboyant Pinch Me, Erik Remmers’ adventurous Balloon barstool and Frans Schrofer’s refined Aire. Together, they attracted the attention of interior designers, architects, specifiers and hospitality professionals from across the industry.

Despite soaring temperatures, Design District remained busy throughout the event. The lively atmosphere led to countless inspiring conversations, new connections and valuable exchanges of ideas. One of the highlights was Thursday’s traditional ‘Designers meet their designs’ gathering, where visitors had the opportunity to meet the creative minds behind the collection.

Design District once again proved to be a valuable platform for meeting industry professionals, sharing ideas and presenting new Originals to the market. A striking stand, an exciting new collection and an overwhelming amount of positive feedback made it an edition to remember. Thank you to everyone who visited us, shared their thoughts and allowed themselves to be surprised by Satelliet Originals. See you at the next edition!
